The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said that the Chandrayaan-4 project is going to be launched in October 2027. The Indian government has given its okay to it. This is an important step for Indian space dreams.
The main objective of the Chandrayaan-4 project is to go to the moon and take samples of the rocks and soil there and bring them back to Earth! It has been calculated that this will cost about 2,104 crore rupees. The previous Chandrayaan-3 that went to the moon landed on the moon and explored it. However, Chandrayaan-4 will go one step further and bring some things from the moon and give them to our scientists. They will use it to research many more things.
Since this mission is a bit big, it will be done in two phases. ISRO is going to use two rockets. One is LVM-3, and the other is PSLV. These rockets will carry different parts of the spacecraft and send them to the moon. Some parts will land on the moon and collect samples, some parts will hit the moon and then return to Earth. It is very important to put all these parts together in space. ISRO has already successfully demonstrated this through a test like SPADEX. So there is hope that Chandrayaan-4 will go smoothly.
Chandrayaan-4 will not just be about taking soil from the moon. It will pave the way for bigger things. That is, there are many dreams like sending Indian astronauts to the moon and building a big station in space. As Minister Jitendra Singh said, this project will help fulfill all those dreams.
The ISRO chief has said that Chandrayaan-4 will focus entirely on the southern part of the moon. Because there is a possibility of ice there. If so, it will be very useful for those who go to the moon in the future.
With this project, India will join the ranks of a few countries that have brought back objects from the moon.
